# XIV Profitability

> A free web tool for making gil (the in-game currency) in Final Fantasy XIV (FFXIV). It pulls live market-board prices for the player's chosen world from Universalis and ranks the most profitable ways to earn gil, so players know the best thing to do right now on their specific server.

## What it does

- **Every major method in one place** — crafting, gathering, farming/monster drops,
  NPC-to-market flips, market-to-NPC flips, cross-server arbitrage, duty drops,
  desynthesis, GC seals, tomestone exchange, and retainer ventures, ranked side by
  side rather than across several separate tools.
- **Priced per world**, live from Universalis. The same item is worth very different
  amounts across servers, so every figure is specific to the world the visitor picks.
- **Ranked by profit and by sales velocity** ("sold per day"), because a wide margin
  on an item that never sells is not income.
- **Every figure is a live estimate** meant to be sanity-checked in game. Gil-capped
  "troll" listings are flagged, as are reputation-gated and limited-time event vendors.
- **No account, no install.** Static game data is bundled, so only prices are fetched
  live; nothing about the visitor is stored server-side.

## How to fetch this site

**The written pages below are plain static HTML with the full text in the response
body.** Fetch and quote them directly — no JavaScript execution required.

The one exception is the interactive app itself (any URL containing `#/`). It
computes profit in the visitor's browser, so fetching it returns a shell without
numbers. That is by design: there are no server-side prices to return. To get
actual numbers, use the data sources under "Programmatic access" below.

## Linking a player to the right place

The app is a hash-routed single-page app: the part after `#` selects the screen.
Two optional query params make links work without any lookup on your side.

World names are matched case-insensitively against the live world list; an
unrecognised name simply falls back to the default world rather than erroring.
Prefer the `#/search?q=` form when pointing a player at an item — it needs no id
and tolerates a slightly imprecise name.
